Some users of the ATI DVD player report an annoying problem of sound
becoming more and more out of sync with the image (it starts Ok, then
image arrives before the sound).
While it may not be always from the same origin, it appears that a number
of VIA-based chipsets (and possibly others) are sensitive to a BIOS
parameter: PCI Master timeout (aka PCI latency time). When set to
anything higher than 0, the problem occurs. Reset it to 0. This has a
good chance of improving dramatically (or solving the issue).
Beware! Not all BIOS give you direct access to this parameter. You may
have to upgrade your BIOS to the latest version. Or you may want to use
TweakBIOS (for the growing number of supported chipsets). http://www.miro.pair.com/tweakbios/.
